Psssst… The best way to name your Infusionsoft Tags and Campaigns

Throughout your journey with Infusionsoft you will be creating numerous campaigns and will require many tags and emails. At some point you will want to reference historic campaigns and emails and you will want to sort through different tags to find names of SPECIFIC contacts that were part of a program you created. To make it easier for you, I recommend that you create a consistent and concise naming convention that follows a specific order.

The below is an example for how to create a naming process for your product and event offers. I suggest that you have 5 sections to the name. One section will be the category and the other 4 will be in the Infusionsoft tag itself.

Part 1
Name of your offer

Part 2
Paid or free.

Part 3
Purpose: an event, eBook, a course, an affiliate promotion, introduction call.

Part 4
Location: live, online, city.

Part 5
Date: month and year.

Example 1

You are offering a 4 week online paid coaching program called “How to Create Amazing Copy to Get Immediate Sales”. It will only be taught in June 2017.

Tag

Category: Course
Tag Name: Amazing Sales Copy | Online | Paid| June 2017

Example 2

You are offering a 1 day live free event in Chicago called “The Way to Wealth” in September 2017.

Tag

Category: Event
Tag Name: Way to Wealth | Live | Free | Sept 2017

An Infusionsoft campaign name will follow the same name as your tag. However, the product name is external and not just for internal use. It’s what your customer sees upon purchase. So you might want to simplify the name and remove the break lines in between to avoid confusion.

Product Name for Example 1
How to Create Amazing Sales Online June 2017

Product Name for Example 2
The Way to Wealth Live Event Sept 2017

Although the names for Infusionsoft tags, products and campaigns seem long and have too much information, think of how one year later when you are looking up the program you will easily be able to find it. It will be especially true if you find your business in one of these scenarios: you offer the same program every year, you have two parts to your product – free and paid – but are using the same name, you offer an online version and a live version, etc. You get the idea. So it’s best to come up with a naming process for your tags and campaigns that you can start using now to avoid extra work in the future.
